Flavour Profile
Rich aromas of ripe tropical fruit and honey unfold as the leaves infuse. The amber liquor offers a smooth, balanced, medium-bodied taste, with notes of brown sugar and roasted nuts adding warmth and depth.
Its sweetness carries through to a mellow finish, retaining a refreshing oolong character beneath the richer fruit and roasted notes. The result is a layered cup that brings together the depth of black tea and the gentle sweetness of oolong.
Terroir
Our Red Oolong tea garden is located in Luye, TaiTung, at approximately 350 metres above sea level. Set among the hills of Taiwan’s southeast, the garden is surrounded by mountains, with the nearby Luye River providing water for irrigation.
The warm, humid environment, abundant rainfall and frequent mountain mists provide favourable growing conditions. This eastern Taiwanese setting is the home of our Red Oolong, with its distinctive ripe-fruit fragrance and smooth, sweet character.
Understanding Our Grades
Our grading considers both the selection of fresh tea leaves and the quality of the finished tea.
Competition Grade: Made from hand-picked leaves harvested around midday, when their moisture content is generally lower, providing favourable conditions for tea processing. The finished tea must meet our internal quality standards through tasting and evaluation.
Premium Grade: May be made from leaves harvested at different times of day. Tea made from midday-picked leaves may also be classified as Premium Grade if the finished tea does not meet our Competition Grade standards.
Midday picking alone does not determine the grade; the final selection also depends on our evaluation of the finished tea.
